My work has varied stylistically but my concerns remain constant. I am mesmerized by the everyday manifestations of nature and by the interaction of natural and man-made worlds. I love looking at bubbles in coffee, pores in skin, cracks in sidewalks. I am interested in transparency, both literal and figurative. I began by working in watercolor, the most transparent of mediums and I often work now in layers of translucent pigment. One form echos another and another. As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, “The eye is the first circle, the horizon which it forms is the second; and throughout nature, this primary figure is repeated without end.”
